Fiorentina Away Jersey
Alternate kits have been worn by La Viola in a variety of variations. White has consistently been the predominant away shirt, while dark grey, navy, and black are often the most popular third kits. During the 1999-2000 season, they wore yellow away kits.
Fiorentina Home Jersey
Fiorentina’s famous purple kit is said to have been an accident. A halved red and white shirt was the club’s emblem color during its formative years. A washing mix-up caused the colours to run after washing the old red and white kits in the river in 1928, leading to the first purple kit being worn.
Throughout the club’s history, the city of Florence has played an important role. There have been several different badges for the club over the years, but they all have a connection to the official Florence emblem. Flavio Pontello introduced the most controversial logo in 1980, which featured one half of the city of Florence and one half of the letter F. The supporters felt this was an overly commercial decision that drew attention away from the heritage of the club.
Purple shorts and socks complement the purple jersey in Fiorentina’s traditional home kit.
Fiorentina Football Kits
One of the most distinctive and popular football jerseys in European football is the purple home kit of Fiorentina. James Richardson’s 1990s Football Italia coverage was characterized by the goalscoring exploits of legendary Argentine striker Gabriel Batistuta, who spent his best years with La Viola.
Fiorentina was founded in 1926 in Florence, and has seen both highs and lows throughout its history. Two Serie A titles and five Coppa Italia titles have also been won by the club, including the inaugural European Cup Winners Cup in 1961. While there have been bleak times too, most notably in 2002 when financial difficulties saw the club demoted to the fourth tier of Italian football, the club has bounced back and is now present in Serie A. The reason for this was Fiorentina’s overspending in the 1990’s, when they signed some of the best players in the world, including Batistuta and Manuel Rui Costa.
